❁Charlotte the Pitbull❁
Charlotte Sophia McLean-Knight-Martín
Pittie Princess
🙤🙥 Obituary 🙦🙧
We are heartbroken and devastated. Our sweet, lovable doghter, our pittie princess, Charlotte, is gone.
On Sunday May 25, 2025 At 6:15 PM PDT, Charlotte Sophia McLean-Knight-Martìn passed away peacefully in her favorite spot in the world (corner of our bed with protective visibility to the living room and patio), embraced by her mom and dad at our home in Oakland, California.
Charlotte was such a goofy and silly girl, lovable to no end. She gave the most gentle doggie kisses and was a dealer in love-leans (AKA dog hugs) to her human friends. She loved dehydrated single ingredient meat treats and was a skilled destroyer of “indestructible” plush toys.
She was a joy to train as a puppy being so eager to please. That quality persisted throughout her life, made recently humorously evident by mostly not barking at the doves and chickadees on the patio (though sometimes she just couldn’t help herself).
An avid blanket-burrower and proficient snuggler, she insisted on always being in the middle between Mom and Dad. Alternately leaning against one or the other throughout the course of the night, her proclivity resulted in the need for a king-size blanket and top sheet on a queen-size bed for us, and a separate princess sheet just for her.

In November of 2010, Charlotte was born into the Chicagoland Bully Breed Rescue (CBBR) and came to us at three months old. In cute Charlotte fashion, she seemed initially reserved on the day of the adoption, but once Liz signed the paperwork to make it official, she jumped into Liz’s lap.
She adventured all over her hometown of Chicago, along with the Midwestern & Great Lakes regions on many local excursions / business trip tag-a-longs / mini-vacations . Charlotte even took a roadtrip in 2012 with her mom and her grandmother, Karen, to visit her grandfather’s side of the family (the Knights) in Florence, Mussel Shoals, and the surrounding areas in northern Alabama.
In Spring of 2015, Charlotte made the big cross-country move with her mom and dad from Chicagoland to San Francisco, where she would explore her new city—marking the best city parks with “grassy rolls”—and visiting sniff sites in the East Bay, Peninsula, and Monterey Bay Area. Many holidays were spent with family in Sacramento and Sonoma.
In 2020, Charlotte would make another move with her Mom and Dad, this time to Oakland. She was a pro at navigating around her building, block and neighborhood, and loved her sniff walks on the northside of Lake Merritt. Over the past year she took up the team sport of group-walks with other elderly dogs with the help of her compassionate and caring walker. Charlotte’s mom and dad sparkled with pride that she was finally socializing with other dogs.
She was Dad’s best buddy, with the Mom-issued credentials to prove it.
We miss you immensely, Charlotte, and will always love you. You’ll forever be Mom’s Peanut, Dad’s Babygirl.
